We help our clients discover The Truth About Finances!

You won’t discover the TRUTH about money by asking whether Aviva is better for your finances than Scottish Equitable, or whether this type of investment strategy is better than that strategy – although these are, of course, worth discussing!

What our clients want to hear is how best to take control of their finances and their lives. What they really want is to find out how to answer questions like:

  • “How much do I need to earn, save or sell my practice for, to give me the lifestyle I want?”

  • “When, precisely, can I afford to start focusing on the things that I enjoy?”

  • “What do I need to do to ensure that I never run out of money?”

  • “Can I really afford to send the kids to a private school?”

  • “Will I be able to help my parents afford nursing care costs?”

  • “Can I help my son buy his first property?”

  • “Exactly what level of investment return do I need in order to achieve my goals?”


In fact a client once said, “I don’t want to have to spend my retirement shopping in Aldi, when I’ve spent my life shopping in Waitrose and never had to even look at the bill.”


Someone has to figure out how to put together all the available resources, money, time and relationships and make them work as efficiently as possible.


We think the best way for our clients to do this is to have a lifetime cashflow forecast which takes account of current income and expenditure; current assets and liabilities and most importantly, future expected income and the cost of their desired lifestyle. We call this a Financial Plan.


Without a Financial Plan, we simply don’t know what’s needed, either to maintain our current lifestyle in the future or to achieve all our clients’ hopes and dreams.


A Financial Plan helps answer some of the above big questions and more..


If we didn’t do proper Financial Planning for dentists using lifetime cashflows we wouldn’t really know how much life cover, critical illness, or income protection is needed to protect the family; or how much clients should be investing in pensions … if at all.


Also we wouldn’t know accurately how much should be invested and what the investment returns needed to be or how much risk needs to be taken. There’s not much point in having a fantastic portfolio designed by investment “experts” if it’s not founded on your future desires and expectations.


In short, without a detailed Financial Plan which includes a comprehensive lifetime cashflow forecast, we believe it would be difficult to make recommendations to clients that would make a real difference to their lives.


You can’t afford to get this wrong – too little money isn’t a very attractive future but ending up with too much isn’t great either. Not only is it likely to result in a large tax bill but what’s worse, is that you might not have done all the things you really wanted to do in your lifetime such as helping loved ones or charities or retiring with enough energy and enthusiasm to enjoy it!


We want to encourage our clients to live their lives to the full, and we don’t want to rely on chance. That’s why we believe in Comprehensive Financial Planning.
